Vissenbjerg Bakker – Brændholt Bjerg – Frøbjerg Bavnehøj

This tour offers a mix of natural beauty and history – a unique opportunity to experience the best of Funen's nature.

Day 1: Vissenbjerg

Arrival at Vissenbjerg Storkro. Enjoy a delicious dinner. Afterwards, take an evening hike in Andebølle, just a few kilometers from Vissenbjerg.

Three hiking routes await you here:

  • Blue trail (4.1 km): Starts at Andebølleskovvej. This trail (not suitable for people with walking difficulties) loops through Andebølle Forest and Ravnebanke Forest. A beautiful mix of Douglas firs and beech trees. Watch for wildlife – from deer to sea eagles.
  • Red trail (5.7 km): Surrounded by bogs, lakes, and streams, this route takes you through the Andebølle area with scenic views and the chance to spot the rare red kite.
  • Yellow trail (7.2 km): This route follows roads and paths past Ornebjerg and the historic stream by the old forest mill. Enjoy stunning views over the fields and glacial landscape.

Day 2: Vissenbjerg Bakker

Start your day with breakfast and then explore the Vissenbjerg Hills. This nationally recognized and protected geological area features dramatic terrain and breathtaking views. Vissenbjerg Forest, now a natural forest, is a paradise for nature lovers with wild growth and diverse plant and animal life. Follow winding trails to "The Viewpoint" for a stunning panorama over the Brænde River and surrounding hills.

Learn the legendary bandit stories linked to Vissenbjerg and explore their old hideouts in the forest. End the day with a visit to Café Orkideen at Fugleviglund.

Day 3: Frøbjerg Bavnehøj & Brændholt Bjerg

After breakfast, head to Frøbjerg Bavnehøj – the highest point on Funen – for an impressive view shaped by the Ice Age. Explore Brændholt Hill, known for its rich flora and fauna, including rare thyme often surrounded by butterflies. You'll also see the strong Simmertaler cattle and mighty oak trees dominating the hills.
