About Jordløse Bakker

Jordløse Bakker is located between Haarby and Vester Hæsinge.

Jordløse Bakker is the northernmost part of the hilly ridge known as "The Hills of Funen".

The landscape was created during the last ice age, which ended approximately 11,500 years ago. The hills were formed as a large gravel and sand deposit under the last ice advance (the so-called Young Baltic Ice) between the more active part of the glacier to the southwest towards the Little Belt and the stagnant, mid-Funen part to the northwest. Meltwater has carried sand and gravel across the area. From the top of the hills, there is a wide view of the Funen landscape and the Little Belt.

Jordløse Bakker is an old common grazing area, which means there is a special flora that can only tolerate grazing.

Jordløse Bakker is teeming with insects, butterflies, and birds. It smells of heather and flowers. Nodding thistle, devil's-bit scabious, and ling heather are all plants found in Jordløse Bakker.

There are several high points in Jordløse Bakker offering magnificent views. The high point Sandbjerg can be reached via a footpath.
