Vinspecialisten in Assens

The wine bar on the town square is actually the oldest wine bar on Funen, having opened in 2013. Since then, this cosy venue has combined a traditional wine and delicatessen shop with a welcoming wine bar and tasting room.

At Vinspecialisten Assens, you'll step into an atmosphere reminiscent of Director Varnæs' living room from the classic Danish TV series Matador.

The wine selection

The wine bar offers wines from four of Denmark's most renowned importers: H.J. Hansen, Østjysk Vinforsyning, Vinens Verden and Haller Vin. You'll also have the opportunity to taste a selection of locally produced wines.

In addition to wine, the bar serves classic cocktails and signature creations made with premium spirits, homemade syrups and carefully prepared garnishes.

The man behind the wine bar

Henrik Lund Nim spent many years on Zealand before making Assens his home. When he took over the business, it was a traditional wine and delicatessen shop. He began hosting wine tastings and small concerts, but the original premises soon became too small. When a larger location became available on the town square, he seized the opportunity and enlisted the help of friends and loyal customers to furnish the space. The result is a unique venue that now hosts events throughout the year, including wine tastings, Winemaker's Dinners, concerts, birthday celebrations, corporate events, Christmas fairs and much more.

Events and experiences

Besides its many wine tastings, the wine bar also hosts dinners, talks, concerts, lectures and other cultural events. The music comes from Henrik's personal vinyl collection of nearly 2,000 records, adding to the venue's distinctive atmosphere.
