820 kilometres of cycling adventures – with Assens as a beautiful part of the journey. The Baltic Sea Route, National Route 8, is Denmark’s longest national cycling route, stretching a full 820 km through Southern Denmark.

The Baltic Sea Route on Funen

On Funen, the route winds through a unique landscape shaped by Ice Age glaciers. You’ll pass golden fields, green forests, long stretches of coastline and cosy harbour towns – and you’re never far from a refreshing swim.

It’s Denmark’s most beautiful and award-winning route, thanks to its varied landscape, paths winding through nature and close to the sea, as well as excellent facilities. In fact, it was voted European cycle route of the year 2019!
